Please also note:
The York University baseball team is a self-funded program. In order to cover operating costs, each player is required to pay a $300 performance bond prior to participating in on-field workout sessions during the late-summer training camp. In addition, each player must also submit a completed player application package. Players who are not selected as members of the final roster will be reimbursed the entire amount of their performance bond. Members of the team will have the opportunity to have their money reimbursed based on fundraising and sponsorship initiatives. It is important that all players look towards seeking sponsorship to help reduce the cost of fees.
The performance bond is put in place to ensure that only the basic operating costs of the team are covered. Players selected to the team should be aware that additional costs may arise during the season and that individuals are required to cover their own costs. Such costs may include travel and accommodations on overnight trips during the National Championship Tournament.
The bond also serves to entice all players to become actively involved in seeking out sponsorship opportunities in order to help support the team. Coaches and experienced players should understand that balancing the schedule of a student athlete can be difficult; however, the more money the team can raise, the better the experience will be for all team members.
