POSTPONED: May 13th Spring Tryout

A note from coach Scot Angus:

Hello Everyone,
I hope the arrival of the spring weather finds you well and that you are looking forward to getting out and playing ball!
We have had a great amount of interest in our tryout this weekend, however many people are unable to attend due to family gatherings for Mothers Day on Sunday and many guys are also playing and traveling with their summer teams this weekend.
At this point the coaching staff has decided to cancel the tryout for this weekend in order to help ensure …

2012 York Invitational – Day #2 report

Congratulations to the winners of the first ever York Invitational, the Bill Crothers Colts, who beat their worthy opponents, the Alexander Mackenzie Mustangs, 8–3 in the championship game late yesterday afternoon.
A further congratulations to the third place, Pine Ridge Pumas, who beat the J. Clarke Richardson Storm by a score of 6–5 in a very tight and entertaining consolation matchup.
The Baseball Club would like to thank all of the schools—their coaches and players—as well as the tournament organizers and volunteers for making both days so successful, despite some less-than-ideal conditions. …

2012 York Invitational – Day #1 report

[Morning update: The Weather Network is now calling for a beautiful, 17˚C day, with sunny breaks. Games are most definitely a go! We'll you all there!]
Note: This will be just a short update, with game recaps and statistics to come shortly after the conclusion of the tournament.
Despite bouts of heavy rain and a bit of lightning today, all games for Day 1—save for one—are on the books. Overall, a very good day for baseball!

Announcing: The 2012 York Invitational – High School Tournament

In just under a week’s time—on Thursday, May 3rd and Friday, May 4th (with Friday May 11th being a make-up date)—the Baseball Club will be hosting our very first Invitational High School Tournament in Aurora, ON (Fields).
The schools represented in this year’s invitational are:
West Division:

Bill Crothers Secondary School
Cardinal Carter Catholic High School
J. Clarke Richardson Collegiate
Westmount Secondary School

East Division:

Alexander Mackenzie High School
Pine Ridge Secondary School
Sinclair Secondary School
Thornhill Secondary School

Notice: 2012 Spring Tryout, confirmed for Sunday, May 13th in Aurora

 

In just under three weeks, the Baseball Club will be hosting our spring tryout before picking things back up in mid-August summer.
We highly recommend that all players interested in playing for the team during the 2012 fall season—both new and returning—come out to Lambert Wilson Park on the morning of Sunday May 13th from 9am–1pm in order to show us your stuff. Those players in attendance will have demonstrated a commitment to working out with the team come training camp, which will go a long way toward securing coaches’ attention …

2012 Recruitment Tabling #2

The Baseball Club will be hosting our second recruitment tabling of the year in Vari Link (between Vari Hall and Central Square) on Keele Campus next Thursday, from 10:00am–2:00pm. Just like the last time, we are looking for new players for next year’s fall 2012 season to fill the holes left by students who are graduating and, sadly, leaving the team.
If you play competitive baseball and have a minimum course load of 9 credits per term (i.e., you are a “full-time” student), then you are eligible to play and we’d love …
